As part of its ongoing design research, the US office furniture giant Steelcase consulted with neuroscientists about the importance of physical movement for job satisfaction and performance.

While this research had informed Steelcase’s product development, it had not been made available to a wider public. To remedy this, Disegno Works proposed a one-off podcast exploring the role of neuroscience in shaping design, executed in partnership with Disegno, the Quarterly Journal of Design.

Hosted by Disegno, the podcast brought together neuroscientist Jack Lewis and Michael Held, design director at Steelcase, for an in-depth panel discussion about links between their professions. The resulting half-hour podcast was light, engaging and informative – sharing information that would have otherwise remained within academia in a format accessible to the wider creative industries.

The podcast was published on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, and other podcast platforms, as well as being shared across Disegno’s social media channels and website.
